About the Founder:

Laureta Huit is a skilled museum professional with over twelve years of experience cataloguing, handling and overseeing art objects’ safe stewardship— from shipping and transport to eventual installation in exhibitions and museum collections.

Huit’s experience includes advanced authority in exhibition logistics and collection preservation and management, as well as curatorial supervision and design.

Much of Laureta’s academic and personal work have focused on her enthusiasm for Contemporary Native American art, the Transcendental Painting Group— a modernist art movement formed in New Mexico (1938-1942).  Serving these interests, Laureta acted as manager of collections with more than 29,000 objects originating from the Great Basin, Plateau and Pacific Northwestern territories (portions of Oregon, Nevada, Washington, Idaho, Arizona, New Mexico and California), ranging from historic and cultural artifacts of various Native American groups to clothing, regalia, furniture, tools, archeological materials, basketry, paintings, drawings, sculpture, rare books and photographs—as well as works by contemporary Native American artists.
